Night closures July 24-29 on OR 99E at Molalla River Bridge
CANBY -- The bridge that carries Oregon 99E over the Molalla River in Canby will see night closures of the northbound lanes July 24 to 29.
Travelers should expect delays during construction. For real-time traffic details go to www.TripCheck.com, which is constantly updated and is the best resource for current information.
The closures will start at 7 p.m. Monday July 24 and continue until 6 a.m. the next morning. The schedule will repeat on the following four nights until 6 a.m. Saturday July 29. Local access to businesses on OR 99E will be maintained at all times.
The northbound lane closures are necessary to allow crews to resurface the bridge. The bridge surface is deteriorating and finally failed last fall. Crews removed three inches of asphalt that were no longer adhering to the concrete bridge deck as a temporary solution to get through the wet season and, now that dry weather has returned, are preparing to finish the repairs.
The project will include preparing the bridge deck, applying a new waterproof membrane to protect the bridge structure and then paving the deck with three inches of asphalt.
Here are some highlights of the project:
· Before construction. Before the work gets started, signs will be placed on OR 99E to alert travelers, businesses, and residents of upcoming work.
· Daytime impacts. The highway and bridge will be open each day in both directions between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
· Nighttime impacts. Five nights of construction from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. with northbound traffic over the bridge closed.
· Northbound detour. Use South Lone Elder Road or South Barlow Road, then take Canby-Marquam Highway/South Ivy Street to reach Canby.
There may be days of inactivity between work days depending on the weather conditions. The schedule is subject to change based on unanticipated site conditions and material and crew demands.
