Reserve an Item
Reserving an item in the library’s collection is also called placing a hold request. A hold is useful if the item you want is available at another LINCC library or if all the copies are currently checked out. When you place a hold, your name is added to a waitlist along with your preferred pickup location. There are several ways to place a hold:
In person:
- Log into one of the computers in the library, find the item you want and click the Place Hold button. Follow the prompts to confirm the request.
- Talk to staff at the Information Desk. They can help you identify the right item, select the best format (regular print, large print, audio, digital, etc.) and confirm your notification preference.
Online at lincc.org:
On the LINCC website, search for the item you want, click the Place Hold button. Follow the prompts to confirm the request.
If the item you are searching for is not owned by any library in Clackamas County, please call or visit the library and we may be able to either purchase the item or request it from a library outside of our county. Please be prepared to provide as much information about the item as you can.
On the LINCC Mobile app:
Enter your library card number and PIN, search for the item you want and follow the prompts to place a hold.
On the phone:
Call the library and be prepared to provide staff with your library card number. Staff are always happy to help you find the right item and submit the hold request on your behalf.
Please note: For all of these, you will need your library card number and PIN. If you do not have this information, ask staff for help. Please be prepared to show photo ID or answer identification questions.
Depending on your preferred method of notification, you’ll either receive an email or phone call when your item is ready to be picked up. Email notifications include detailed instructions for how to pick up your item(s). If you have any questions about your requested items or the pickup process, please call the library.
Note: Holds must be checked out on the card used to place the original request. If you’re picking up someone else’s holds, please remember to bring their card or card number and PIN.
