The City of Canby is excited to announce the finalists for the position of City Administrator. We are pleased to introduce the candidates who have advanced to the final stage of the recruitment and selection process.
These outstanding candidates have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of municipal governance, and a strong commitment to serving their communities. We are confident that any of these individuals would be a valuable asset to our city.
The finalists are: William Scott Jorgensen, Eileen Stein, Jamie Lee Stickel.
W. Scott Jorgensen began his career as an award-winning reporter covering local government for various publications throughout Oregon, including Pamplin Media Group, the largest media company in Oregon. He was also a talk show host with the Grants Pass Broadcasting Corporation and worked in the Oregon Legislature in both its Senate and House of Representatives. Jorgensen has written and published four books on Oregon history, and they are in libraries throughout the state. He became a local government administrator after graduating from Portland State University's Mark O. Hatfield School of Government in 2017 with an Executive Master's in Public Administration, starting with the City of Aurora and more recently with the City of Rainier. "Having spent much time living and working in the area, I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce myself to the residents of Canby. I feel that the City can benefit from the variety of experience that I have to offer in multiple areas, and am looking forward to the upcoming interview process."
Eileen Stein has 34 years of public service experience including serving as City Manager for Sisters, Mount Angel, and West Linn, OR. She held several positions with Clackamas County, including the Interim Deputy Director. Since May of this year, she has been with the City of Canby where she serves as Interim City Administrator. Ms. Stein obtained her MBPA degree from the University of California, Irvine and an ICMA Credentialed Manager. "Serving as Canby’s Interim City Administrator has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I look forward to continuing to help build a strong and diverse organization which serves the community with respect and integrity."
Jamie Lee Stickel is the Economic Development Director and Communications Specialist for the City of Canby. She began her focus in community and economic development in 2008 at the Committee for Downtown Yakima. She served as the Canby Main Street Manager from 2012 until 2018; and was honored by the Oregon Main Street Program as Oregon Main Street Manager of the year in 2015. After being appointed as Economic Development Director, Ms. Stickel works to support local businesses, facilitate community development, and leverage resources to ensure thoughtful growth in Canby. Ms. Stickel holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Pacific University. “Over the last 11 1/2 years, I have dutifully served Canby by building strong relationships with business and property owners, residents and community organizations, as well as City staff and the City Council. I have diligently worked to become a leader within the organization and throughout the community, and I am eager to bring the knowledge, skills, and relationships I have obtained in Canby to the City Administrator position. It would be a privilege to continue to serve Canby as its next City Administrator and continue to preserve its small town atmosphere while planning for growth.”
