November 5, 2024 General Election Information

 

Terms of office for Mayor Brian Hodson, Council President Traci Hensley, Councilor Jason Padden, and Councilor Scott Sasse will expire on December 31, 2024. The Council position held by appointed Councilor Daniel Stearns is also up for election per the City Charter. This position will be held for a two-year term and will expire on December 31, 2026. The Mayor and Council positions will be on the November 5, 2024, General Election ballot.

Three of the Council positions are four-year terms, and one is a two-year term. The Mayor position is a two-year term. The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will have four-year terms. The candidate who receives the fourth highest number of votes will serve a two-year term. The winners of the Mayor and Council positions will serve terms that commence in January 2025.   

Election Calendar for City Candidates

November 5, 2023  Any person running for a position on the City Council must have been a Canby City resident by this date.

June 5  First day to file nomination papers and petitions.

August 20  Suggested deadline to submit signatures for verification to the city elections officer.

August 27  Last day to file nomination papers and petitions.

August 30  Last day for candidates to withdraw.

September 9  Last day for candidates to file voter pamphlet statement.

November 5  Election Day.

January 1, 2025  The Oath of Office administered to elected candidates.
