Traffic Unit

The Traffic Unit is committed to improving traffic safety through education and enforcement.

Pedestrian safety, supporting neighborhood traffic and enhanced enforcement of high-risk traffic zones are all duties associated with the Traffic Officers.

The Traffic Unit also targets other problems such as seat belt enforcement, child safety seat enforcement, curtailing driving under the influence of intoxicants, and traffic accident investigations.

Although the Traffic Unit specializes in the area of traffic, they must still maintain a working knowledge of criminal enforcement. Just as uniform patrol handles traffic duties when there is a need or problem, the Traffic Division also performs patrol duties.
