Who Do I Call to . . .?
In an emergency, always call 9-1-1; however, the non-emergency number, 503-655-8211 is appropriate to call in situations that are not an immediate threat to life or property.
WHEN TO CALL NON-EMERGENCY DISPATCH 503-655-8211
Below are some examples of calls which should be directed to the non-emergency number:
- You want to file a police report regarding a matter that is not an emergency.
- You have a concern about a possible crime.
- You want to talk to a police officer about a possible crime.
- You have additional information to add to a previously reported incident.
- You are seeking a release for a vehicle that was towed/impounded by police.
WHEN TO CALL THE RECORDS DEPARTMENT/BUSINESS OFFICE 503-266-1104
Below are some examples of calls which should be directed to the Records/Business Office:
- You want to request a copy of a police report.
- You have a question about a police report request you previously submitted
- You want to make a credit card payment for a previously ordered police report.
- You have a question about the vehicle release process (during normal business hours).
- You are trying to reach a member of the Canby Police Department, or wish to leave a message for a department employee.
***Please do not call the Police Records Department/Business Office to report a crime or suspicion of a crime. This civilian staff cannot dispatch an officer to assist you, and can only refer you to the non-emergency number***
WHEN TO CALL THE CANBY MUNICIPAL COURT 503-266-4027
Below are some examples of calls which should be directed to the Municipal Court:
- You want to check on or reschedule your court date.
- You have questions about your upcoming trial.
- You want to make payment arrangements for a traffic fine/citation.
***Please do not call the Police Records Office to discuss traffic fines or fine payment options. The Police Department cannot assist you with fines, court dates/hearings, or trials***

Below are some examples of calls which should be directed to the Property and Evidence Officer:
- You have a question about found/unclaimed property.
- You have a question or want to make an appointment regarding the return of seized property.
